BOARDING PROVIDED FOR ALL DOGS WE TRAIN
Wagner K9 School is a professional dog obedience training school owned and operated by the Wagner family since establishing in 1975. Wagner K9 School is a very personalized business with clients that are bringing their second and third generation dogs to be trained by us. Most of our business comes from the Charlotte area , but we get many dogs from other states whose owners are searching for a facility that does not use shock collars. We are such a facility, using only proven method, training dogs to become happy, emotionally stable, fun loving pets that learn how to communicate with their owners without the use of shock. We have dedicated our lives to obedience training the family dog and helping families learn how to properly handle and care for their pets. We handle all kinds of obedience problems from: housebreaking, excessive barking, nipping, biting, jumping up, chewing and being destructive, and many other conduct problems. "Obedience Training your pet enables you, the owner to open lines of communication with your dog and gives you the means by which to control and correct all conduct proplems." Obedience Training is the means by which this can happen. This is the only way to build and to develop a dog/handler relationship. It really is that simple. This, in turn gives you the ability to mold your dog into the pet you want it to become as an adult." Read on to see how this all can happen for you and your dog.
We have a 4-week in school dog obedience program that deals with the total dog, teaching new manners, socializing around distractions such as other animals and trains all dogs 4 months and up how to Heel, Sit, Sit-Stay, Down, Down-Stay, and Come. Many other words are taught as well, including: No, Okay, Wait, Out, Go Potty, Stop, Okay, and good dog! During the initial first visit to Wagner K9 School all dog owners are given a "FREE DEMONSTRATION" of exactly what the dog will be taught during the training period. Owners will also see how positive and loving the Wagner's are with dogs. They will demonstrate their own personal dogs to you and any dogs they may have in for training at that time. In special cases the school will take dogs in at a younger age to help the family and to get the pet housebroken correctly. It just depends on the circumstances.
START EARLY WHEN YOU CAN BUT IT'S NEVER TOO LATE TO REHABILITATE!
You don't have to wait until your dog is 1 year old or older and out of control before you seek the help of a professional trainer! When puppies are young, other than needing to be potty trained, you may feel as if you are doing just fine with your new puppy! But, as all puppies age, unless an owner knows exactly how to raise the pup correctly, stopping any and all conduct problems that might arise in the future, the pup will become more independent and begin to wander further away from their owner. This is when the dog owner begins to lose control and obedience problem behaviors begin to develop. The owner, not really realizing what is happenning watches the puppy progressing more and more out of control. Thus, the owner soon is having a great deal of problem walking and controlling their dog's behavior during the walks and at home. Then the destructive chewing, separation anxieties, and mulititudes of other behavior problems start to show themselves. By this time fears and anxieties start developing and turn to confusion and aggression and then escalate into biting! Then, we have an older, larger, aggressive dog with a mouth full of teeth that weighs much more than they did as a young pup. Now, we have to deal with a lot more animal that is stronger and has many more teeth! Wouldn't it be a more perfect world, if, before all this comes about, and while your puppy is still a well behaved, sweet, lovable puppy less than 6 months old and before all these behavor problems come about, that you put your dog through a good program of basic obedience at Wagner K9 School? So many problems down the road can be stopped before they ever come to exist. We all want to believe that our sweet puppies will not change, but it doesn't usually play out that way without proper training, control, and limits being taught at a young age. And to train early on saves the owners so much stress and expense before the dog destroys the house and furnishings and bites someone. Not to mention what the poor dog has to go through before they receive proper help and training: fears, anxieties, destructiveness, and biting! So, even though it is never too late to train a dog it is always best to train early on in the early months of life. Either way we can do this for you. We can help you through the potty training and before the dragging you down on leash starts, chewing and being destructive, barking, biting, aggression, whining, all the anxieties that come from just not being controlled or taught properly. All because owners just aren't made aware of how important early training is, even when things are going just fine at the time, not knowing what is in store down the road for their dogs and themselves. You don't need to wait until things are out of control. Call us when your puppy comes home from the breeder. We will get you started right and keep you that way!
Again it is worth repeating, The best way to build a good dog/handler relationship with your dog is through basic obedience training. When a dog is trained properly, using only the best proven methods, a secure, stable, and happy dog is created. With first methods developed by the Army and then carried on by the Air Force, combined with, whether it be, the clicker trainer, gentle leader trainer, or dog whisperer techniques, a great solid foundation can develop a well trained dog. There are natural, everyday ways to understand and correct common dog problems and absolutely no electric collars are used at Wagner K9 School.
Obedience training dogs is a unique specialty service and we offer this service for to the public, as it has become our top priority and main goal since 1975.

Above, Billy Wagner is pictured with his dog Silky soon after the school opened. Billy, at the young age of 25, started his dog training career, shortly after an accident that just about took his life and did take both of his hands. Using artificial hooks Billy uses his unique abilities to train and work with any and every dog that comes to the school. Dogs readily bond and respond to Billy which can be seen just a few short weeks within starting the obedience training program.

A Testimonial by Morressa Wagner
I've been living with animals my whole life and started helping my grandparents train dogs once I was old enough to hold a leash, and walk without falling on my face .
I got my first dog when I was 3 years old. Her name is Sugar Baby and is 11 years old as of August 2011.
We never used her much for demonstrations, because she was so lazy and walked like a old grandma. So we used Ellie,my Collie,
for almost every demo. She loved showing off her stuff and looked and acted just like Lassie. Ellie and I "worked" and played until she died in 2008. Her loss was hard on us all.
I started re-searching dog breeds in late 2008 - early 2009, looking for the perfect dog for me.
In springs of 2010, Maggie May came into my life. She was a 3 month old WILD chocolate Labrador retriever pup.
All she knew how to do was jump and bite.
I started working with her right away. Within 3-4 weeks, I had her doing all the commands. Heel, sit, sit stay, down, down stay, and come. Her focus was amazing! I, Morressa Leigh Wagner, age 12, had trained my dog all by myself!
I was so happy. By the time Maggie was 1 year old she knew all the commands, plus shake, high five, sit-pretty, jump up, and hup (command to jump through a hoop).
By the time Maggie was 13 months, she'd also learned Over and Under.
Now at the age of 15 months old, Maggie is doing most, if not every thing, OFF LEASH!
How did I accomplish THAT? I used a couple little devices called a Longe Line, a Short Tab, and of course, I used my leash. If Maggie did not come when called, the Longe Line helped me to catch her. All I did when she ran past was step on it. The short tab help me keep control in the house. And with the using of my leash, I got close to Maggie, conditioning her to WANT to be close to me, not wanting to run off.
Here's a little story. I was coming through a gate, Maggie walking off leash with me. Poppy, as what I call my grandfather, was walking with a dog, one that I knew did not like other dogs running up to it. Maggie caught sight of the dog and ran off, full speed, to it. I yelled out. MAGGIE, NO! YOU COME!!! She slammed on the breaks, turned, and ran back to me. I praised her so hard, I jammed my finger on her neck. I was so proud of her. If I hadn't worked with her so much with the Longe line, tab and leash, I'm pretty sure Maggie wouldn't had listen.
So many people think that training a puppy so young means the dog won't have a good puppy-hood. It's not true. Training your dog young makes the puppy-hood EASIER on the dog and on your family!
Maggie is the happiest dog I know. She LOVES being obedient. When I go out to get her for a demonstration,I say " Hey Girl, are ya ready to go work?" She gets SO excited, that sometimes it seems like her tail will go flying off!
I hope that Maggie and I will have the privilege to meet you and your dog.
I guarantee that you won't be disappointed!

"SCOUT"
Testimonial
February 6, 2006
Dear Billy and Susie,
Scout is about 10 months old and doing great. Her obedience on leash is far better than one would expect from a puppy. Although at 75 pounds it is hard to imagine that she is still a pup. She goes on walks with us along the green way and people often comment on how well behaved she is. We can take her anywhere and not worry about how she will react with others. Cathy and other officers at her office put on a child safety seat check point the first Saturday of each month. This past Saturday I stopped by with Scout and some of the kids came up to pet her. She loves children, especially our niece Julie who is two years old.
Thank you both for all the hard work you put into Scout. By working with her regularly she has retained all the training she received. We would like to bring her down on a Saturday so she can visit with your family. I am sure she would love to see you.
I have attached a recent picture of Scout with Katie. God Bless,
Curt and Cathy Gormican Charlotte, NC
