Billy and Susie Wagner, Sr. began training dogs professionally in 1975 under the name “Wagner Command Dog School”, later shortened to Wagner K9 School.
Wagner K9 School was the first dog school established in the Charlotte area of North Carolina and is known as the Original Boot Camp for Dogs.
Our family-owned business also includes sons, Billy Jr. and Charles Malone, and Morressa Wagner. We believe in the power of a well-behaved and obedient dog. Our mission is to empower both dogs and their owners. Focusing on building the dog-handler relationship, our comprehensive training programs ensure your pet becomes a "good citizen," allowing you to enjoy their company, wherever dogs are welcome.
ABOUT US
Obedience Training
Estimates place households owning dogs somewhere between 50 million and 65 million. In addition to the number of dogs in U.S. households, it is an unfortunate reality that another three million dogs enter animal shelters across the nation each year. Many situations where owners surrender their dogs to a shelter – for example, due to behavioral issues – could be avoided if sufficient and proper training is offered. Obedience training must be coupled with instruction for you, the dog owner. After obedience training your dog, we will teach all family members one on one.
Locating the right trainer and making an informed choice is important. At Wagner K9, we work with the total dog, teaching manners as well as basic commands, which are the foundation of all other advanced training. Our training method provides lifelong solutions and peace of mind for both you and your dog. Since 1975, this has been our passion!
The aggressive dog is who put Wagner K9 School on the map, with our ability to rehabilitate dogs with people, other dog and other animal aggression. Most of these dogs have been pronounced dangerous and owners have been told to have the dog euthanized by trainers and veterinarians alike. However, from spending 4 weeks with the Wagner’s over 98% have gone on to live full, happy lives with their families.

Wagner K9 has also experience in working with the shy dog, the fearful dog, the anxious dog, the energetic dog, the lazy dog and all dogs in between. We don’t discriminate against breeds such as the Pit Bull types, Dobermans, Rottweilers or shepherds. We love dogs of all sizes, ages and breeds.

We are based in North Carolina, about 30 miles east of Charlotte, but don’t let distance deter you. There are Wagner trained dogs all over the southern U.S, up the east coast and beyond.
